Seems like they had a bit a problem with the volume knob this year, it did sound quiet on Saturday when it was windy....
Festival Director Melvin Benn said that the volume had been out of his control this weekend.
Unfortunately this affected a fair number of bands over the weekend.
"The sound levels on site are almost entirely dictated by the levels offsite. The local council set levels by which sound can't be above and this is measured next to residential properties nearby to the site.
The council set exactly the same level that they always set, but due to the weather this year, the sound stayed low and hit those decibel readings much, much earlier than normal, resulting in the sound being recorded at much louder volumes offsite than normal. So we were obligated by the council to turn our levels down.
The sound level was less than ideal on the Friday night and my sound engineer and I have a meeting scheduled in with the council to present how we will overcome this so we don’t face the same issues with sound next year."

haha,
well apparently Metallica weren't overly happy with the sound quality at Leeds so paid the £20'000 fine in advance at Reading at broke the decible level...
also brought their own camera crew too...

The sound definately improved (as always) for the headliners.
I can well believe that 'Tallica paid the fine 'cos they were quite audible in White Camp which was the best part of a mile from the stage.
Yup, we got bored about half way through their set & called it a day.

yeah Metallica were definitely louder than the other headliners, Rage sounded good, but then we were quite near the front.....
