Bands billed as Special Guests at some point last year:
Less Than Jake The Darkness Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Cave-In Biffy-Clyro
At least I think these are right. Of course last year had 4 main stage bands pull out so there was a lot of shuffling.

I'm sure there's more than a few of us hoping and praying for a few pullouts this year too. *cough* 50 cent *cough*

i was looking at bands that could be the special guests. Fear Facotry said they were playing a UK festy in an interview to MTV i think it was i read about. Now that would be download most likely but its full on there now aint it where could they fit in. And it would be a very late addition. Maybe they decided to inject a bnit of metal into Reading and be higher up the bill than they wouold of been at download? i duno...just a fort for you all to think about and ya comments.

Hmmm....I'd rather have QOTSA or Him or Incubus or Foos.....though I do realise there's not much chance of any of those.

The only reason most bands are put as special guests is that they are playing other festies and are bound by contractual agreements. mI reckon the cooper temple clause will play one of them being from reading, maybe a 2:00 spot on the main stage would suit them. There is one just before the streets according to alot of sites. Another i reckon could be Distillers who are bound by contractual to download and maybe we'll see eagles of death metal on a lower stage. The one below mc5 could be keane or snow patrol maybe or it could be amen because they've had an album out this year. Whats up with the wildhearts being so low on the bill and libertines and my morning jacket being so high up. Can anyone explain.

I think it's likely Velvet Revolver. They've not paid any attention to this country yet so Mean Fiddler wouldn't know where to put them on the bill. They've just gone straight into the US charts at number 1 though so it looks like they're gonna be big.
