Just wondering if theres any set times for announcments to be made or whether there just gonna filter out over the next few months. Also what chance do you think there is that 50 cent is a joke announcment and judas priest will come on in their place? ;D

No, there are no set dates for announcements - the first I know is when a press release appears in my inbox. And that's usually a few hours behind the big guns like the BBC ar NME. Which is fair enough I suppose.
I know nothing about 50 Cent, but I heard a rumour that he would be replaced by Drive (Dan's old band)... but only on the grounds that they'd probably do it for 50 cents.

Quite a few of the announcements last year were made on a Monday night on Radio 1 if I remember rightly. At least that's how it seemed. I'm gonna put a bet on something else being announced next Monday. As for 50 cent....well it's a good excuse to check out the tents (not that we'll get in....I mean wtf was it with all the burger vans around them last year? TOSSERS! No wonder noone could get in the damn things! )

it sucks that mf do this. They should announce the bill all at once before they sell tickets. No other type of business can do this. The rest of the bill is going to be piss weak judging by the standard of the headline acts.

The thing is though, you can't judge it by the headliners. Every year i've been I haven't given a monkey's about the headliners and still had close to a full days worth of good stuff to watch. You just have to run about a bit. And have a couple of drinks in the gaps.
I don't think Reading has sold out this year just on the strength of the headliners. Surely not

The Offspring Ash Jurassic 5 The White Stripes Green Day - confirmed Placebo - confirmed Lostprophets - confirmed Thursday - Funeral For A Friend - confirmed Reel Big Fish Goldfinger Dropkick Murphys My Chemical Romance(probly)
So far as there will be more bands I would say that the stages beoynd the main stage are just as good if theres shit on at other times!

for all those who are worried about the line up looking shit don't worry there will be about 200 bands playing over the whole weekend and the quality (or lack of) of the headliners..big acts won't have any bearing on any of the other stages.
Reading for me has always been a oddon..been goin since 1998 with around 20-40 ppl from my home town..but (unsurprisingly as reading is a rock festival) they're all rockers..i'm into dance and hip hop..this has meant since i've been going there's been little on the main stage that interests me...since 1998 only beastie boys, prodigy, chemical brothers and primal scream have been bands in the top 4 of the main stage i've watched. however the week is always brill i fuck around in the dance tent most the time...encouraging some of my friends more reluccant of dance music to come along while often goin with mate to watch bands that don't really interest me..most the time i appreciate the bands and sometimes i quite like em...but my points this your at a festival..there shit loads to do..you'll be with your mates so who cares if the line up so far is dog..as d:ream said things can only get better!

you're best off getting extraordinarily pissed, staring into a fire all night, and pretending you saw some great bands

Better still, catch a really early band that all your mates have missed & then bore them shitless all weekend with tales of how they missed the best band of the fest.
Me & Reg do it every year. YHA & Parkinsons to name but two.
If there isn't a good band on early then lieing is also an option, especially if your mates are as old as ours cos they havent heard of any of the bands anyway.

I reckon the special guest slot under the hives on the main stage will be taken by the distillers but they will have to wait till after download to announce it for contractual mumbo jumbo. After all thats why talica didnt headline download last year and gave a false name(not like it worked or anything). So i the distillers play i reckon desert sessions or eagles of death metal will play on a smaller stage because of Josh Homme and Brody Dalle being together.

Would being bored shitless save a trip to the festie toilets? In which case, they should all be bloody grateful!
