Well, with Metallica, Less Than Jake and the Manics, there are actually headliners I want to see this year which is a definate improvement on last year.

As recent line ups have gone I agree that technically this is a pretty strong one it's just that for me there's nothing that I haven't seen plenty of times before & nothing at all that particularly excites me.
Aside from the hippies, what always put me off Glastonbury was the crowds & queueing to get between stages & Reading has gone far to far in that direction in recent years.
To me a great fessie band is one that I wouldn't consider paying big bucks to see on their own but have always been kinda interested to see. Such as NIN last year (altho' in that case I did actually pay to see 'em just before hand). Kid Rock at Download is a prime example of this so I got meself a day ticket for that today.
Also looking seriously at Monsters of Rock & Metalway in Zaragoza...Purple, Maiden, Sister, Saxon, The Tatts & The Nuge all in one weekend!
Finally, I don't care how famous Jack Black is, a bloody joke band should not be second on the bill at a major fest.

Agree with Reg, festival satisfaction definitely decreases with age, the first couple of years I went to Reading all seemed fantastic (although less so now when I look back!) and generally it's been downhill from there, with a few exceptions here and there. I guess you refine your musical taste over time..... This year is a marked improvement on the previous couple of line ups though In the end Glastonbury's a pain in the arse to get to (and doesn't always get a good lineup), I don't really have a heavy enough taste in music for Download, I won't touch the V's with a barge pole and T in the Park is too far to travel. So Reading is my ideal festival and I haven't had a year yet that hasn't left me musically satisfied..... ;D

Got this off the MF website.....
'Full details of the bands appearing across the weekend on the BBC Introducing Stage will be issued soon'
Guess they've renamed the new bands stage as Carling aren't sponsering anymore....

....Anti-Flag are now playing 3rd on the bill on the lock up stage on the Friday, that's in addition to opening the main stage.
Think I'll go see future of the left instead of the main stage set, couldn't see it being anything more than disapointing anyway

Interestingly they are extending the unsigned bands stage that's been at Leeds the last couple of years to Reading this time round, the 'BBC Introducing Stage'....
PR fluff off the official website.....
This year sees the debut of the BBC Introducing Stage at both Reading and Leeds Festivals. Whilst the lucky folk at Leeds had the unsigned stage in years gone by, now both sites will get a chance to see the next generation of UK music over the weekend.
The bands on the stage are chosen by a combination of the BBC - through their UK-wide network of Introducing shows and a panel of music experts led by Huw Stephens, Sandman magazine and Leeds based promoters Futuresound.
Huw Stephens said; "Reading and Leeds is the festival for new music and so to have Introducing there is very exciting. The line-up for the stage offers a whole load of new talent and compliments the array of new artists playing."
Live sets from the Introducing stage will be available at bbc.co.uk/introducing and the BBC’s Reading and Leeds Festival site at bbc.co.uk/readingandleeds.
The Unsigned Stages at Leeds in the past have helped the likes of Twisted Wheel and Polytechnic land record deals. This year sees a few bands already making significant waves in the industry on the bill with Northern Ireland’s General Fiasco and London’s Ipso Facto already well known by A & R and cutting edge media types alike.
The BBC Introducing Stage will feature the following bands throughout the weekend with more names to be announced shortly.
Attack Attack The Cherry Cobb Cartel Darlings of the Split Screen Eureka Machines Fangs FF'ers Flash Guns Fox Cubs General Fiasco Hungry Ghosts I concur Ipso facto Kid iD The Last People on Earth Loqui The Maybes? The New York Fund Our Fold Out From Africa Pulled apart by horses Razmatazzlorryexcitement Situationists Skeletons That F**king Tank Thomas Tantrum Tiger Shadow Tripwires
