what are the best food places people have eaten at? Cuz there were so manny, and i really didnt want to get the runs. cuz last year i thought i'd have a kebab, and it was actual shite and the chilli sauce(which was all they had) wasn't appreiciated on the way out. the best thing i brought was a chicken fajita which cost like £5

We spent the whole weekend eating hotdogs and chips from one of the stands on the right hand side of the main stage. None of us were ill...it was tasty too. At least with hotdogs you know lots of ppl are buying them so they prolly havent' been hanging around TOO long. With kebabs etc the meat is there for ages isn't it?
The other thing I will avoid is things like salads and cold meats....I had a ham and salad baguette last year and hardly touched it...it was quite nasty actually.
As a butcher's wife I highly recommend eating from somewhere where there is a good trade and a high turn over of freshly cooked meats. Avoid cold meats or meat that has to be sliced as it's prolly been around all darn day (if not the day before also)
Prolly better off goign down to the local McD's to be honest. LOL

There used to be an awesome Indian veggie stall, but it's not been there for the last three years - amazing curries, samosas and bahjees. All fresh and full of flavour.
I always scout around for a decent veggie stall (I don't eat meat or fish anyway, and you won't get ill like you will from badly stored/undercooked meat) and check out the portions they dish up for the money. A big pile of rice and a small ladle of curry for £4.50 is a rip-off, for instance, but there are some places that are real value for money. Never buy from the first stall/van you see.

The supermarkets. Waitrose in Caversham is the nearest. Turn left over the Thames and follow the road round to the right. There will be a huge lorry selling Carling etc on the road towards the river, but it's generally nearly a quid a can, so, if you can manage the weight, go to the supermarket and pay about half the price - you can always lighten the load by drinking as you walk, which has the added benefit of getting you pissed. But then the cans fall out of the slab... As for pubs, take your pick - it's pretty much London prices.

one sad festie tradition of mine and my friends is to try and eat round the world over the weekend. i.e. we might start in America (a burger/hotdog stall) then go to mexico (mexican stall) then china (noodles) etc etc... just adds a bit variety to eating at Reading.

Nice idea! If you do it this year - get a pic of you eating outside each different stall, and post them here.
A couple of years back Quayley drank a different coloured drink with every round in the pub... that's pretty good fun, too. And gets you drunk. Which is nice.
