The best place I found was the pancake stand in the arena. Definately not cheap at 3.50 for a basic one, but they do sweet and savoury ones and they are massive and really filling. A tradition with us is an early morning walk into caversham for a wonderful fry up.
I used to yake fiood with me, but its always a pain to cook, or you eat it cold and then fancy something more solid, so now i just take munchy stuff.

I've eaten at the same breakfast place evry year i've been, and do you know, I still can't remember exactly where it is!
If you walk into caversham, there's a little square of shops, and its in the centre of there. You need to get there first thing tho or the queses are silly, and not overly cheap but about 4.50 will get you a full english or veggie english, and tea is hot and cheap. I tell you, thats the worst part of reading, a pound for a luke warm weak polystyrene cup of tea!!

last year me and trigger were wandering about at about 3am and found a noodles van and we were hungry and thought we'd try some... we were also very drunk and all they had was veggie noodles (we wanted chicken) so we ended up with the veggie version.. it was cold and there was barely enough for a small child let along two of us.. but we enjoyed our drunken £4 scraping of noodles.....
