Screw meanfiddler with their ridiculous admission charge! You can get something much better for less than a quarter of the price with tickets only £25 for two days of great music. The line up incorparated so many great bands this year, from crazy japaneese heavy metalers to irish folk singer damien dempsey, from the four legged riff machine of winnebago deal to hilariously funny buck 65. My weekend started of with a trip to see my awesome compilation on the barn stage who as the name says were awesome and also who was stood next to me but MC lars.
After my awesome compilation finished i wandered out and was met by queen's "having a good time" coming from the trailer park stage i wandered passed thinking the worst but as i did it speeded up until freddy mercury sounded like joe pasquali had inhaled a canister of helium. I was drawn in a found a huge crowd gazing on i disbeliefe,it was just nervous test pilot making a racket. But what a racket! it sounded like a cross between alec empire and aphex twin unfortunatly i only got the last five minutes of this genius.
For the next half hour a went and got stoned with random people before wandering over to watch my red cell rock the barn. I had seen them previously supporting eighties matchbox b-line disaster and they didn't dissapoint then, and they didn't now. The singer's arrogance on stage was outstanding thrusting his hand into his while singing the line "fuck the love and the hate and lets masterbate", Classic!
I wondered into the lounge tent which had a load of shell suited people with burbery caps on free styling showing how diverse truck really is. It was now time for jetplane landing, i wondered over to the barn and found them in full swing, the singer telling evrybody that they were "here to entertain you". His rant about how they don't care if you don't like tjis emo shit were peddling out. we're just here to entertain. If your not gonna jump around and enjoy yourselves fuck off" It went down well with half the crowd but then again the other half left so maybe not so well.
It was now time for winndebago deal who were on top form today churning out the best real heavy music i have heard in a long time, since kyuss infact. Fuck the white stripes these two guys make some serious noise.
Stuck around for MC lars as i had told him i would. he was amazing churning out the most inteligent hip-hop since the beastie boys. Also met ben from winnebago deal and two of my awesome compilation during his set.
Then i headed over to watch million dead who were on fire whipping the crowd into the frenzy with there melodic hardcore. Frank flailing round the stage like a lunatic while the bassist(quite reminisant of kim whilde actualy) guitarist and drummer turned out some fine music.
Watched buck 65 from the front barrier. He was hilariously funny telling stories between songs and even doing a cover of no one knows by queens of the stone age. He will be well worth going to see at reading if you get the chance.
Waited around for the amazing eighties matchbox for a hour and a half (i had to sit through the dire folk music of goldrush to keep my place on the front barrier). As soon as they came onstage i knew why i had waited. They were the deserved head liners. Guy mcknight was in the crowd within the first song and when during celebrate your mother he screamed "i wanna fuck your mother" you were allmost inclined to let him do so. They weren't detered by the stage invader or the few people shouting abuse but carried on pleasing the mojority of the festival with there mix of the birthday party and the cramps. Exelent!!!! You must go and see them at Reading.
Headed back to my friends and got lashed before going aand seeing the shell suited people putting on an entertaining drum and bass show but when they were shouting when i say drum you say bass. Drum......" it left me thinking of bo' selecta. Had a dance with some stoned people in the acoustic tent which had turned into the dodgy indie disco. Where i met frank from million dead and stayed with him for an hour or so and decided to go and try and find an guitar for him to do an acoustic set like joe strummer at t in the park but in the end just passed out at about 6 in the morning.
