Well I was about to say that I have no problems at all and then it took 15 seconds to load this reply screen. Still a hell of a lot faster than the old board. I get the feeling ProBoards need a better server.

yeah it's VERY variable, right now it's fast and sexy, but other times it's been a pile of shite...
guess it's just down to the forum hosts... if they've got mega amounts of traffic and page requests to service then the board will slow right down... or if they've fek'd up some settings it will kill it until they sort they're own mess out...
fish (having a geek moment :-))

Hmmm, on a Mac running Safari in OS 10.3 it's mega-fast. But then EVERYTHING runs fast in OSX!

Hmmm, on a Mac running Safari in OS 10.3 it's mega-fast. But then EVERYTHING runs fast in OSX! Just shows only dumb-asses use Macs with a comment like that... :-) HTML is only a fancy but simple language that converts text into text, graphics and hyperlinks to more text, graphics and hyperlinks... jeez an old '486 DX2/50' with an 8Mb graphics card could probably parse and render HTML as quickly as a Mac (or any other Steve Jobs tupperware box) if it was supplied with the data fast enough... It all comes down to how your ISP and ProBoards are peered (interconnected) on the Internet, and how many routers, servers, firewalls, switches and hubs there are between you and the server which is hosting this particular forum... The more of the above between you and the forum server, and the harder they're having to work at keeping the internet going, the slower your requests for data from Proboards will be processed... and the slower you'll receive data back from Proboards... fish (go back to the DTP on a Mac and leave the real computing to those of us with usefull OSes)

Er, Kev, you need to see how fast Safari renders pages - in a side-by-side test with IE and Netscape (itself much quicker than IE), it's more than twice as quick to load and render pages... and you may wish to know that it's a Unix OS... Plus OSX is beautiful to look at!
