Well, second year in a row I can't make it. Hope everyone has a good time. Weather looks awful, though! Reviews, please!

First time in 10 years myself and Dave aren't at Reading :-( Dave became a dad a couple of months ago, the line up wasn't very appealing and the campsite behaviour was a pain in the arse (people burning everything in sight etc...) so we gave it a miss this year...

Huge congrats to Dave!
As the campsites have got more crowded, the behaviour has got worse. Though the White camp site (where I was in 2008) was alright - it was the designated "quiet" campsite, but wasn't too crowded, probably due to it being the furthest away from the arena. I'd definitely stay there again... if I ever go again. Which I hope I do.
There were about 12 acts I wanted to see this year, which is more than normal, but no one else was up for it.

Cheers Reg! Just about used to broken sleep and smelling of milk... Yeah, sounds like they sorted the crap Sunday night antics this year though (no fires & no booze in after 6pm). Is telling that I'm scrolling through the 60 odd bbc highlight videos online and there're few I'm bothered about watching. It appears GnR took the piss as predicted too. Maybe next year. Dave P.S. Al - you got any pics from our 2002 festy? It's the only year I'm missing from the collection.

Well due to being on the other side of the world I too wasn't at the festival this year, breaking a 7 year run. It was a little sad to be honest, having gone since I was 16 it seemed such a regular part of each year that I didn't really think how odd it would be to not be there until it had passed. It was always more about taking time out of increasingly seperate and busy lives to relax (in a usually very alcoholic style) with old friends...though I'll readily admit that in recent years the increasingly dire lineup (though I always found something I enjoyed it doesn't seem as full of 'unmissable' bands as it used to be...perhaps I'm just getting old!) and the overcrowding and idioticy of people I worryingly had started to refer to in my head as kids had taken a good deal of the fun out it...
still...a shame not be there! Perhaps next year, though will limited cash (apparently its a bad time to return to the Uk and look for a job!) we'll have to see how it goes...I might even end up volunteering or something equally as ridiculous!
PS. Congratulations also to Dave!
