Thanks a lot FatREG I have just pissed away 2 days of my life reading every word of your site (I am a slow reader to be fair!)........so many memories and so much utter shite. Laughed a lot too.
A rich tapestry of complete lies interwoven with a few myths creates such great reading!
1982 was my first - Budgie were great but Randy California just amazing.. Iron Maiden gave it LARGE...Blackfoot were fun as well.
1983 - Black Sabbath with Gillan as the frontman was the biggest load of BOLLOX ever - forget heavy rock this was Stockbroker Rock....I remember the roar when they played the riff of heaven and hell and then just walked off stage - that was the only homage to Dio on the entire set (WANKERS!).
Thank goodness that bill had Lizzy on Sunday and Stranglers on Friday.
I stopped going for ages with all the new wave shit and also Marillion and the like (although I did enjoy a bit of Magnum)
Just been and watched Fest 2014 - Vampire Weekend were complete turds, felt sorry for them really as they followed Enter Shikari who always put on an awesome show. Everyone was pumped let's get some rock moshing on the go and along walks thios bunch of idiots with there girly eclectic mix of tunes - how to flatten an audience in a single cocked up schedule!
Other comments - Blink 182 were pretty good, Queens of the Stone Age surprised me with how good they were and Arctic Monkeys were excellent also. From other tents that I saw While She Sleeps and Jimmy Eat World were very good, Nick Helme and the Helmettes were so funny...(a tad too much lycra or a tad too many beers could not be too sure which) - Bombay Bicycle Club and the Churches, I am sure they are very good, just not to me!
My band of the fest were -
PAPA ROACH
- simply fantastic on Sunday.
