Getting tent-pegs into the baked-hard soil of the campsites, but not if you spend an evening before a festival hacksaw-ing the tentpegs down to about three inches long. They'll still do what they're meant to (keeping your tent in place) but they'll go into the ground with no trouble (or bending) meaning you'll be cracking open the first beer while everyone else is still swearing about the rocks in the ground and their bent pegs.

If i catch anybody stealing my tent pegs i'l insert them into them... i'm rather attached to them you see... and i've already lost half of them so if i lose even one my tent won't have a full compliment... then i'd have to go steal yours!

the trick is to go to a camping shop and buy some 9" hard ground pegs. They're fooking long, very strong and generally can only be extracted from the ground with a great deal of force. Just remember to bring something to pull em out with.....but no-one will be stealing them! ;D

I prefer bear traps !
And as of hard baked soil recent weather may suggest swamp like conditions !

Just picked up a new tent. Lots of room for beer and food. What more could you need? ;D
