I'm hoping to make a flag/banner thingy for Reading...
Basically, I need something we can keep at the tent until Sunday, when we can take it into the arena...
I've seen telescopic flag poles, but are they safe enough to take apart, then put back together once in the arena (I don't know their rules on flags/poles being brought into the arena)...
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Ta very much...

Your best bet is to use a tent pole, the collapsable ones. Does make it much easier to find ur mates again with a flag! Had a windsurf one with 'fatreg' added last year...

I used two fibreglass battens from a windsurfing sail duct taped together for the flagpole, but yeah a collapsing tent pole (from a typical dome tent) is really good. There are no rules against taking flags into the arena (atleast there weren't any last year), but you should try and be considerate to those behind you! This year look out for our new flag.... it's very fitting for Reading!

Don't worry I'll be as considerate as I can.. which is why I wanted it to be collapsible/easy to take down etc... I'm only planning to take it in for Alkaline Trio's set... hmm... my brother has a dome tent. I wonder if he'd let me borrow a pole from it.. he's not going to Reading this year. He's been listening to waaaaaaay to much trance music lately... *shakes head*
Ali p, what is your flag then?!

It is indeed my "Old time old No.7 Brand Quality Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey" flag, very suitable for reading I thought, just no-one else get one please! Or it will get very confusing tying to find our group in the arena!

A very late update but... I made a flag and it worked great using tent poles.... however, we had some complete and utter twats camped next to us and they kept knocking the thing over. Also, on the last night we had lots of people wander past saying they were going to steal it, plus the twats camped near us were using it as their land mark to send all their mates to our tent, so we had to take it down.

I saw someone with a Wixes DIY shop flag flying at their campsite last year. I want to know who it was and how they got it. And if it was in a less than legal way to shake their hands! So if you know I would be most pleased
