Well I personally thought Blink were really good.
I'll give you Staind though.....biggest disappointment last year but that's prolly not their fault that their equipment wasn't working. I was really looking forward to their set, which I was sure would have been rocking. Acoustic Staind is ok....but they would have played a different set I'm sure if they weren't.

Staind (I'd managed to blank them from my memory) Black Sabbath in 1983 (though it was funny...) Eminem (why oh why was he ever on the bill?) Starship in 1988 I'm sure Stereophonics and Travis were pretty dreadful from what I heard drifting into the campsite, too...
There's probably loads of others, but it's been a long time...

One from each year i've been
2003: Staind 2002: Incubus (even the pre-recorded backing vocals couldn't save em. oh dear) 2001: Err...actually can't remember seeing anything bad. 2003: Finch
done!

ahh I learned form my mistake in 2002 and avoided Staind like the plague. All acoustic would of been even worse

Wow....I would have put Incubus as one of the best I've seen there so far. And Finch were pretty good too IMO. We need a 'best performances at Reading' thread.

Finch were much better when they played the radio 1 stage last year. lost all their amosphere when they played the main stage like im worried will happen to thursday this year. incubus were poor in 2002 compared to when i saw them at wembley a few months before but that was mainly cos they were plugging their awful morning view album. thankfully theyre new one is much better

They were pretty good I think. but then it's easy to say that when you have no other shows to compare them to.

My worst top 3.
[1] Foo Fighters [2000] - As much as i like them i was severely disappointed by this set. The main stage just didnt work for them this yr [2] Staind [2001] - Now i quite like some staind stuff and although i thought they actually played ok they should not of been let anywhere near that main stage. Stick em in a tent like they should be! [3] Thrice [2003] - Walked away after 4 songs. enough said.

very disapointed with slum village in 98 or 99 and last year i was really looking forwards to squarepusher..but the sound in the dance tent was fucked..which wasn't his fault..but he came on stage in a rage and played a 20 min bass solo through some fucked up distored footpedals..i just couldn't cope

not exactly the worst performance but do any of you remember dillenger escape plan's legenday performance at reading 2002...
i seem to recall that the singer shat on a towel, threw it into the crowd which then turned into some sort of volley ball rally before he proceeded to smear it on his top and try to crowdsurf...
what a way to start the day, eh.

Always been really lucky with Reading sets I reckon. Still I'd go for: 2003: Finch - Lead singer seemed to think that a big stage meant more incomprehensible screaming, were good on Radio1 stage previous year I seem to remember
2002: Dandy Warhols - Were just unbelievably bloody boring. Couldnt be arsed
2001: Eminem - Walking off half way through to show an episode of South Park does not make a good festival closer

One band stands out as the worst above all else.......
SLIPKNOT (2000 and 2002)- the most unbearable I'm-going-back-to-my-tent-to-drink-warm-cider pile of shit I have ever had the displeasure of (briefly) listening to.
