Damn that kicked ass. After what seemed like an eternity we finally got there, only took about 6 hours, the que to get into a que, to get into a 3rd que was kinda funny (i know i can't spell que so fuck off)
Saturday
Ok Saturday morning, moster magnet satrted off with a damn fine set before i spent a weirdly long amount of time watching skaters, after a while i relaised that skateing sucked and so i went and saw the last part of instructions set on the game on stage, from what i saw they were rather good.
Then on to the barfly stage wherre i saw surferosa and the mightly glitterati, if you ain't heard of them then i suggest you get out and see them, they seem to be everywhere so it shouldn't be too hard
Then back to the main stage for the highpoint of the festival, the stooges. They played a blinding set and there was a stage invasion, being on the main stage looking out a tonnes of people with the stooges playing was fucking brilliant!
Jackass were fucked up on the game on stage. Electric six surprised me by being a good band and ended there set with radio ga ga and finally pennywise ended the first day in style.
Sunday
Up bright and early and almost collapsed when after introducing a 'metal band' churchills speech started to play, shit i thought this is maiden, but it was only breed 77, i say only, they were actually quite good.
Waited for ages and turbonegro hadn't come on, then there was a message on the screen that due to transport problems ill nino were on now, turbonegro after.
So in order to see turbonegro i had to stand through the aboslutue bollocks of ill nino, painful stuff. Turbonegro were worth it though, even if the crowd were a bunch of silent unsinging fuckers, how uptight must you be not to sign along to i got errection?
I'd been told to go see hoobastank by a friend so i did, intending to tell him how crap they were, but they wern't so there ya go. Slayer didn';t have the sense to turn up on time so i went back to the campsite.
As i sat there i realised that as slayer were cancelled there now wasn't a clash with danko jones, who were on in 5 minutes, so i ran really fucking fast. Was worth it though as they put in a fucking awsome set.
Do me bad things wee a weird yet good band, had about 10 members, backing singers and stuff like that. Amplifier were a really good metal band. After them i found tucked behign the barfly stage this little booth where you could buy bands sets from the barfly stage for a fiver, so i brought myself a copy of danko jones, surferosa and amplifer (who signed it for me, ncie blokes.)
Tried to see slayer, but they were further delayed so i really couldn't be asked to hand about for them anymore. The sounds were another weird yet somehow good band.
Then the wait for metallica. The 2 hour wait for metallica. The sun set. 3 bottles hit my head. People booed. Where the fuck were they!
Then they came onstage. all 3 of them, turned out lars had gone to hospital for some reason, but they had got some help form drummers in other bands. The sight of corey from slipknot, complete with mask, playing alongside metallcia had to be seen to be believed. Also tkaing th skins were a roadie and slayer drummer.
Metallica set was instense, they only played for 40 minutes so they just played loads of their best songs, so nothing from st anger, nothing for load and nothing from reload. Some people will complain that they only palyed 40 minutes but seriously if you mate had just come hosipital ,to play at all is a bloody good thing, not least to turn out such a kick ass short set.
