Okay then. Nearer the time, I will set up a new section or a sticky post where people can get in touch with each other to arrange any private ticket transactions to help others out. Naturally, I'd prefer it if some sort of integrity was present and that tickets were exchanged for face value (plus postage - and I'd recommend Special Delivery for that), but I'll have to leave that up to the individuals involved.
There are several ways to pay, I guess, the most "secure" being actually meeting and handing over the money and ticket, but that may not be possible. An element of trust will be involved somewhere, much like with ebay, which brings me to another option: ebay use something called Escrow, where a third party holds the goods (ie the ticket) until the money has exchanged hands. They then pass on the goods. Has anyone ever used this? How does it work in practice? Who actually holds the goods? I know it's popular in the USA, but I don't know about here. I'd offer to do it myself, but I don't think if I'll have the time.

I don't think you're alone in that, Digsy... I really believe that Mean Fiddler will have to do something more like the Glastonbury system next year to prevent tickets getting into the hands of these tout-agencies. After all, if these agencies have tickets (and they appear to) then how can MF claim that weekend tickets have sold out "in record time"? Unless, of course, those tickets were sold direct by MF to these agencies?
Something smells fishy to me. And it ain't just the cat's dinner...

Tickets on the gate - if they are being sold - are all very well if they are real. Couple of friends of mine brought 2 from a tout last year and were told when they got in they were fakes. Guys at the ticket exchange said they were the best fakes they had ever seen and they had been flooded with them. Ensure they are real or - like my mates - your weekend may not be as good as you expected

yeah but when we meant at the gate we meant from the actual mf box office not some chancer on the side of the street. I dont think even mf would sink as low as selling fake tickets to their own festival
