... and I'm definitely NOT going to be at Reading this year. First time I've missed once since I started in 1983. End of an era...
It's not even the line-up (though there's no one I really, desperately want to see) but the fact that the bank holiday just clashes with two jobs coming to their conclusion, and I just couldn't get the schedules changed.
So, sorry that I won't be at a meet-up - if anyone reads this before you set off, have a beer for me.
Have a good one, everybody!

We'll be having a beer in your memory, Reg. No wait that sounds a bit wrong! I have a wedding clash on the Saturday this year so I'm going to miss the Arctic Monkeys (I'm truly devastated, not). I'll be leaving on sat morning and returning for all of Sunday....

Much as nobody actually reads this any more just thought I'd pop a brief message in for any ghosts that might be fluttering about the place, I shall not be attending the 2010 Reading festival due to the not inconsiderable logistical challenge of being in Australia at the time (I'll be there most of 2010 as it goes, not just that weekend.) Though I obviously didn't make it as far as others (christ I was 4 years off being born in 1983!) the 7 consecutive ones I went to since I was 16 certainly feels like a giant chunk of my life so far...though truth be told recent years have been increasingly poor, especially last years teenager away from parents for the first time bollocks atmosphere drink and destroy nightmare. Maybe I'm just getting old! Still, a decent lineup (stranger things have happened!) may lure me back in years to come. Hope anyboby who's going has a decent one, and that the weathers not too unkind to you all!

Hey, great to hear from you, Nik. I thought I'd really miss Reading, but in the end, I didn't. Sure, it would have been a fun weekend, but without a decent line-up (at least for me) there was less incentive, and less feeling of missing some great bands, though I'd like to have seen Them Crooked Vultures. Might try and get to Download again this year (if only for the AC/DC day). Failing that, one of the Hard Rock Calling days in Hyde Park, though, in truth, that has much more to do with drinking cocktails in the sun than the bands, though Neil Young was awesome last year.
Have a great time in Oz and maybe we'll catch up at a festival sometime in the future...

Ah well didn't ever get to find you at reading Reg but then i only managed 2001 to 2009 but ACDC is too much to resist so although i'm not happy with the new download layout i'll be heading up the M40 this year

How many Readings did you manage before you packed it in then Reg? Do any of your old crowd still go?
I'm up to number 13 when I go this weekend (all of them since 1999)

I managed 24 in all - I should have thought about it, done one more and bowed out on 25, really... None of the old crowd go these days. Probably because we're now actually old.

Impressive that you all kept going for that amount of time. Most of my lot packed it in by the time they were 25 saying that they were too old for it (Which probably says more about the festival than them)
