The scariest movie I've seen is the American version of The Ring. Actually no, Ghostbusters really fucking frightened me, that bit where that woman opens her fridge and theres all those demons in there. What? I was only 7 or eight at the time.

The film I remember being most scared by was actually Batman...but that was a long time ago. Jack Nicholson was scary as the joker.
Event Horizon is pretty terrifying the first time round, and the Evil Dead series are great but leaning a bit towards funny rather than scary.

I'd say evil dead 2 is a mixture (and the best of the series) but 3 is pure comedy... the japenesse version of the ring is without doubt the scariest film ever made... reinforced by(in real life) a sleepwalking nutter who looked exactly like sadoka...shit that was scary at 3am when still slightly drunk

Candyman is one of my favourites. Still creeps me the hell out. Scariest thing I have seen in recent years would the coffin scene in Kill Bill 2.

I saw a film in the 80s called something like "Anthropolagos - the Beast." A true video nasty - decapitation, people eatling their own intestines, twisting heads off, eating unborn babies, that sort of thing. Really, really horrible stuff.
Scared the living crap out of me - reversing the car out of my mate's driveway, I looked over my shoulder and there was a figure walking out of the dark behind. I jumped out of my skin, slammed the car into gear, dumped the clutch and left half the tyre tread on the road as I screeched away, heart beating like a Dutch techno record.

I must admit to owning the first 2 but I use them as a way of clearing rooms or curing manic depressents who realise their lives are not as bad as those oh so happy teenagers !!
I think the correct term is "mylifesuckscosIdontknowwhattodowithmycarefreedays"
